I decided to experiment with doing a local account transfer with a newly created Nintendo account through the system settings option since I heard that would ensure save data displayed properly, and it worked like a charm - the play time held up across both systems with no shenanigans (and I double-checked by repeating the process that led to my earlier 'First played' conclusions with a game I'd only just started minutes before, and the time still reset on the new Switch on my account). Opening said games on the old Switch will reset this once the play activity from both systems is synced, up until the game falls out of the top 20 again. Any game not within the usual displayed lineup of 20 games will show up as 'First played' if I open it on the new Switch, even if it previously displayed the correct play time from the previous system before falling out of the list. However, this seems to have had an unintended consequence, as now my play activity is all messed up. I set up my Nintendo Account on the new Switch during its set up process. Hello!
